Public defender gets Elmira slaying case
The Elmira man charged in Monday’s slaying of 19-year-old Erin Jade Smith appeared in Elmira City Court on Tuesday, where his case was reassigned to the Chemung County Public Advocate’s Office.

UPDATE: Indian cigarette tax case now in hands of highest court
SYRACUSE — The state Court of Appeals, the highest court in New York, has just wrapped up proceedings related to the cigarette tax dispute between the Cayuga Indian Nation of New York and Cayuga and Seneca counties.
