My parents want to fly to NYC for their 50th anniversary. Dad does not like heights and prefers staying on the first or second floor of a hotel. We have been trying to search for the best deal on a package of 5-7 nights. A show or two. Shopping. Dining. All close to the hotel. Having never been there, any help would be appreciated.

not in NYC they are tall buildings if he wants to rent close by to central park they would be close to everything shows dinning etc if he wants to rent a hotel room with 3 floors he would have to go outside and then he will be a lot of traveling to the city
Couldn’t they simply stay on the 2nd floor of a taller hotel? you may have to call around a lot to find a 2nd-floor vacancy, but with enough lead time I’m sure you can do it.
