If money were no object and you lived in New York City, where in Manhattan would you live?

I’m trying to get opinions on the absolute best neighborhood to choose. I am looking for the best in terms of proximity to subway, nearby interesting sites and dining, bars and clubs, etc.
This is vague, but give it a shot if you will.
TriBeCa or SoHo
They’ve got all the cast iron architecture, massive lofts, nice restaurants etc (with not so many tourists)
The Village.
LOL. If you’re rich, you won’t be taking the subway, so don’t worry about that one. It sounds like you’d be looking for someplace like Greenwich Village, rather than the Upper East Side or Central Park West.
I wouldn’t live in Manhattan. I will find a nice place in Brooklyn or Queens. Most likely Brooklyn because I love it there.

Crosstown bus M66, M104 from Harlem thru Times square into United Nations.
Central Park for leisure, exercise, walking dog, and great date spot
AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 With IMAX in Lincoln Square for movies
The Shops @ Time Warner center in Columbus circle
Lincoln Center for the performing arts
Ed sullivan Theater for David Letterman.
Did say money being no object!.
Have to go w/ the Village, Soho ,& Tribeca .
Manhattan is easy to get around & reaching the uptown cultural centers is not a problem
Would have a big loft with a rooftop garden & a garage for an inconspicuous “city car” .
‘Would own the building so that should be no problem
Still a chance of finding a brownstone with a back yard, possibly a garage or a rooftop garden.
Would consider having a sailboat in a slip on the east side.
The smaller downtown restaurants , cafe’s & neighborhood joints are more to my liking than Park Ave & big uptown bucks snobbery in general.
Basically would not consider anything that has Trump on it.
You would have no clue by looking at me that I had that kind of wealth.

Upper East Side.
The Village or UWS overlooking Central Park
Mid to upper west side.
The neighbourhood vibe is cool, the shops are great, you’re close to many of the main cultural centers there. The restaurants are more inventive on the west side than the east (though the ones downtown are really raising the bar).
I couldn’t speak for clubs, I sing in them for part of my living so I don’t spend my free time in them. My opinion would be more that of an employee than a club goer which probably wouldn’t help you.
Well, I truly love my own neighborhood (Park Slope, Brooklyn) but I think if money was really no object, I would want to live in the West Village or on the Upper West Side.
East Sixties between Fifth and Park. It is nicer because it is not near the subway because you would not have to take the train, you could take a cab everywhere.
If money were no object and I lived in New York City (which I do), I wouldn’t live anywhere in Manhattan. I’d still rather live in Brooklyn.
Hmm, living in NYC as I do now, I would have to stay in my tiny hole in the wall apartment in the East Village. Or maybe Chelsae, there are some pretty cool spots around there that no one really thinks of, Chelsae is pretty over looked especially down by Union Square Park
I think for me…I would actually live in Brooklyn Heights. The neighborhood is awesome, beautiful brownstones, lots of restaurants, etc. You can actually walk or go for a run across the Brooklyn Bridge. If you do want to take the subway you have several to choose from. And my greatest reason for wanting to live in Brooklyn Heights…the view of lower Manhattan!

I lived in NYC (Queens) all my life, and believe me if money is no object just buy yourself a car, pay for parking, and move to Queens or Long Island. The problem isn’t the neighborhood you are moving in to, but what you have to pass throughout your neighborhood. Think of it like Jamaica Estates, the neighborhood is nice and all, but once you leave the area (Which is really not that big to begin with), you are in the most horrible of neighborhoods imaginable.
On the top of the Empire State Building. It is not well known that Howard Hughes had an apartment at the very top of the building. The apaertment is still there , but has been sealed since Hughes died in the early seventies.
Personally, I’d live on Riverside Drive in the 80s. There’s a beautiful view of the river, the park is right across the street and it’s quiet for Manhattan. The IRT is a couple of blocks away and the bus stops right on RSD. There are bars a few blocks to the south. You really do not want to live too near a club. You’ll never get any sleep. Grant’s Tomb is nearby as is Riverside Church, Central Park, Columbia University and across the park (about 10 – 15 minutes away) is Museum Mile as well as the upper east side, which has it’s own nightlife.
Otherwise, I’d move to Washington Heights near the Cloisters. The A train is a 30 minute trip to midtown from there and it’s a very interesting neighborhood.
In the full floor apartments on Fifth Avenue over looking Central Park. Apartments across the street from the park usually take up the full floor, thus some folks have 10-bedroom apartments. If I were young and into the bar scene, I would live in Tribeca where many in show biz live.
You cant beat West End Avenue between 66th and 77th streets. That is my favorite part of Manhattan.
upper east side
The brownstone where my grandfather was born in Brooklyn or someplace in St. Marks or Coney Island. I don’t crave buckets of money nor can I deal with stupid tourists
Honestly, I would have liked to see what it was like for my dad growing up on the lower east side in the 1960’s &1970’s.
I am New Yorker born and raised and love this whole friggin state, but I have to say I find Toronto and Montreal much more interesting and you get more bang for your buck there compared to NYC.
I would build a castle in central park and live there. I would still let people run around my yard just like they do now.
I would live in the Bed Bath and Beyond building – overlooking the Lincoln Center fountain and the Metropolitan Opera, NYC ballet/opera, and Avery Fisher Hall. There are plenty of good restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. (Jean-Georges, one of the best restaurants is nearby, and the Time Warner Building has Whole Foods and a lot of other restaurants. Columbus Ave is filled with different types of cuisine – Chinese, Italian, pizza, Thai, Malay, Indian, Spanish, Turkish). It’s right smack in the middle of town – right next to the 1 train. I live near there but it’s only temporary.
Midtown Manhattan:
Got the A B C D E F N Q R S V W 1 2 3 4 5 6 and 7 New York City Subway Lines while also having NJ Transit and Amtrak services. It’s even got PATH. Weehawken Ferry and main train stations including 42nd Street/Times Square, 34 Street/Penn Street and of course Grand Central. It has a short subway ride away to Central Park while also having Times Square, MetLife Building and Columbus Circle are some things to visit not including all the little parks spread within. Midtown Manhattan is deff the place in NYC you want to be.
I love New York its where i mostly vacation these days
But this year im traveling alot and im going to different places.
Lol, but anyway, i would probabaly choose between SoHo or Manhattan.
The vibe is very cozy in Soho and Manhattan is where i go when i vacation
in New York, i took a trip all around NY and i loved every part of it.
