beaches in or near connecticut?

my girlfriend is coming here in a month or so and i wanted to take her to a nice hotel and fine dining i deffinately want the hotel to be right next to the beach and it needs to be in connecticut nothern new york or rode island please help
Newport, Rhode Island is pretty posh. I’ll bet you could find something like that there. And there are beaches all along Rhode Island’s coast, of course, many on Narragansett Bay. I’ve been to Mystic, Connecticut many times. I’ve never stayed at the Inn at Mystic, but check out this link. Looks like exactly what you want.

There are lots of touristy things to do, the area is very pretty, and fairly easy to navibate. There are plenty of bed & breakfasts and the like in the area as well, much nicer than a standard hotel room. Plus there is shopping, the seaport, the aquarium and a number of other places to visit!
